LAD Biblical Reports One doctor is trying bring to light a problem related to cannabis users that has basis in reality–not just scare tactics you might hear from other sources.
His TikTok video explains that cannabis users (marijuana smokers) will need to take a greater dose of anaesthesia over the long-term in order to get the same effects. Tell your doctor if you use or smoke cannabis.

Talking with your doctor about cannabis can help you make an informed decision on the right dose. While the doctor does not recommend that patients stop using cannabis, they should be open with them.
If you use cannabis frequently, you’ll need to take a higher dose of anesthesia to stay asleep during your operation. This could lead to not being fully unconscious in the worst scenario. It sounds like the worst experience a person can have, waking up in surgery.
Most experienced anesthesiologists agree with this statement. These potential interactions can lead to it being recommended that you abstain for certain days from marijuana use before surgery.
Harvard David Hepner MD, MPH made a similar appeal in 2020. He stated that more patients are experiencing anesthesia needs due to cannabis use.
The way you smoke, ingest, or consume marijuana is a major factor in how your body responds to it. Hepner explained that the amount of marijuana you smoke, how frequently and how many times you consume can all affect your body’s response to anesthesia. People who regularly use marijuana may require different levels of anesthesia because both marijuana and anesthesia affect the central nervous systems. Your doctor will need to be able to tell you how frequently and how much marijuana you have used before they can prescribe the right medicine.

The American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine published the first Guidelines regarding cannabis use and the timeline for surgery on January 3. acknowledged that there has not been a single document that addresses all of these issues.
This guidance was based upon the known data and recommendations of The Perioperative Use Of Cannabis And Cannabinoids Committee, a committee made up of 13 experts, doctors, patients advocates, and chronic pain specialists.
Nine questions were answered by the committee, and 21 recommendations were made.
The document states that although many of the risks and difficulties associated with perioperative cannabis have been discussed in literature, including how to counsel patients, the effects cannabis has on anesthetic medication, and the interactions between opioids and pain, no one document can summarize all these issues and provide evidence-based recommendations.
It might be worth listening to the opinions of anesthesiologists about cannabis.
