The project aims at establishing and pursuing the art of animation in Cyprus and setting up an annual event around this art form. For this event, Pafos2017 hosts a series of workshops, film screenings and interactive animation installations. The screenings involve films to be created in the workshops as well as an artists’ selection of animation masterpieces. The venue chosen is the Attikon cinema, a landmark and a point of reference in Pafos for people of all ages – and the name of the project is in fact a connection of the word “animation” and the name “Attikon”. Charalambos Margaritis is the curator of the programme and Vincent Rioux and Juliette Marchaud, professors at the National Superior School of Fine Arts in Paris will also take part in the project with the organising of workshops. Benjamin Efrati and Diego Verastegui from the Miracle Collective in Paris as well as other famous animators from Cyprus and abroad will contribute to the events.
